Olbia prepares for the Rally Italia Sardegna: first PS in town

Olbia is preparing for the Rally Italia Sardegna 2022, the Italian round of the World Rally Championship from June 2 to 5 on the island. The city will host the first Special Stage of the event on Thursday, June 2 between the San Josemaria Escrivà de Balaguer waterfront and the Cabu Abbas complex. The start of PS 1 is scheduled at 6:05 p.m. in the first section of the waterfront. The cars will then run on a specially designed course of 3.23 km with the test ending in Oglio street. The WRC cars will finally return to the parc fermé near Olbia city hall.

To allow the Olbia Cabu Abbas PS to take place, some access roads to the affected area and roads used for the race route will be closed.

From about 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, the following sections will therefore be closed to traffic:

The public will be able to follow the test from the only areas identified with a yellow net or band. The absence of signs implies that spectators may not stop at that point. Areas identified with a red sign with the words NO GO AREA are particularly dangerous and consequently prohibited. Signs with the words NO PEDESTRIANS and NO PUBLIC indicate that from that point on, no spectators are allowed to go and that there are no dedicated spectator areas beyond that point.

Safety convoy cars and marshals may ask Race Direction to cancel the Special Stage starts in case of spectators stop in prohibited areas. The Special Stage could also be canceled. Thus, compliance with safety rules is essential for the smooth running of the event.

The public will be able to park their cars in a parking lot near the Olbia Arena, accessible from the Via Mincio exit of the Pedra Niedda traffic circle on Highway 125. Fan areas are then within easy walking distance. The RIS Experience VIP Lounge, on the other hand, is located near the Roman Aqueduct.
